Gov’t launches PMAZ for project management skills
THE Ministry of Finance and National Planning has launched the Project Management Association of Zambia (PMAZ) Liaison Desk aimed at building capacity in project management skills.
Speaking during the launch IN Lusaka, Ministry of Finance and National Planning Acting Permanent Secretary for Planning and Administration, Lois Mulube said the Liaison Desk will also be responsible for the development of the national standards for the profession of projects management.
Ms Mulube said the desk will also be responsible for accreditation of project management practitioners as well as the certification of project management practitioners.
Ms Mulube explained that the liaison desk will be a special purpose vehicle that will be used to bring together stakeholders to draft bills that will professionalize and regulate the profession of project managers.
“Today we are witnessing the launch of PMAZ Liaison Office Desk in our ministry, this launch demonstrates the Ministry’s commitment to achieving prudence in project expenditure implementation and management. Ms Mulube stated.
Speaking at the same event, PMAZ President Shadrick Saili said there is need for improved project management in the country hence the launch of the Liaison Office. Dr. Saili stated that the government wants to improve service delivery for improved economic development evidenced by the partnership that exists between government and PMAZ.
He added that the launch of the Liaison Office is a strategic move to close the gap that exists in the implementation of various projects within the public and the private sectors.
Dr Saili noted that the initiative is posed to introduce best practices in the project management profession for the benefit of the country and the citizens.
And GIZ Head of Programmes for Good Financial Operation, Barbara Dutzler said the company decided to partner with the Ministry of Finance and National Planning in order to contribute to the growth of the project management profession in the country.
