Kabuswe works to empower Chililabombwe youths
CHILILABOMBWE Member of Parliament Paul Kabuswe has embarked on a journey of empowering youths in his constituency so that they are self-employed to lessen over dependency on formal employment to make them future employers.
Mr Kabuswe said he was therefore, expecting all the empowered youths to put the funds to good use and work hard to pay back, as they were a revolving fund, so that others benefit too.
Mr Kabuswe, who is also Minister of Mines and Minerals Development, yesterday empowered 40 mobile money operators in his constituency with each recipients receiving K2, 000.
“The revolving fund is an effort to boost the businesses of mobile money operators which in turn will help to boost the local economy. Am expecting the youth to put the funds to good use. To use it for its intended purpose.”
"In my small and humble way, I will continue to pursue a journey of empowering youths of this constituency so that they are self-employed to lessen over dependency on employment, as these are future employers when their businesses grow,'' Mr Kabuswe said.
Apart from revolving funds, Chililabombwe constituency has seen a number of developmental projects being churned under the CDF, among them, a 1 by 3 classroom block at Kakoso combined school, a bridge and road in Lubansa ward as well as the procured grader and compactor at the Chililabombwe Municipal Council.
During the handover of the CDF projects last year in December, Mr Kabuswe however expressed concern over poor workmanship by some local contractors and has warned that, if such mediocre works continues, local contractors should not blame those overseeing CDF projects when they start engaging contractors from outside the district.
Mr Kabuswe said he was disappointed that, with huge sums of money being invested in improving infrastructure development through CDF, some contractors could be exhibiting poor quality works.
