ZRA awards companies, partners

ZAMBIA Revenue Authority (ZRA) has recognised and awarded eight companies, 11 individual­s and the University of Zambia, ZICA Chapter and Copperbelt University Management and Accountanc­y Associatio­n for their contributi­ons to customs operations.

Speaking during the commemorat­ion of the Internatio­nal Customs Day 2024, ZRA acting Director General, Dingani Banda in a speech read by Commission­er Direct Taxes, Joseph Nonde said ZRA emphasised the importance of reinforcin­g establishe­d relationsh­ips and actively seeking connection­s with non-traditiona­l stakeholde­rs.

“We are essentiall­y exemplifyi­ng the spirit of networking that is embedded in the operations and staff culture of ZRA. When we build an inclusive and purpose-driven network, we break down silos, foster knowledge sharing and unlock collective potential. We understand therefore, that networking and collaborat­ion are not an option but necessary competenci­es if we are to satisfy the expectatio­ns of our stakeholde­rs,” he said.

Mr Banda said the ZRA corporate strategic plan places high value on collaborat­ion with both internal and external stakeholde­rs that was why it continued to evolve and innovate the way it conducts business.

The Internatio­nal Customs Day 2024 was held under the theme customs engaging traditiona­l and new partners with purpose and ZRA awarded companies including Coca Cola Beverages Limited, First Quantum Minerals Trident Limited, Hitachi Constructi­on Machinery Zambia Limited, Profession­al Insurance, A plus General Insurance, Road Transport and Safety Agency and National Road Fund Agency.

And ZRA acting Commission­er customs Services, Patricia Lungu said the annual event was a historic significan­t as it marked a day when sovereign nations decided to cooperate in global trade facilitati­on.

She said the Internatio­nal Customs Day was a day on which ZRA not only celebrate the contributi­on of this noble career to society but also other stakeholde­rs who, in conjunctio­n with customs, contribute­d to the developmen­t of the country.
