‘Bloodies’ gang leader nabbed

A LEADER of a notorious gang called Bloodies” group of a juveniles aged 15 years old has been arrested in connection with the murder of Kings Sikonde, aged 17 of George compound in Chikolokos­o area.

Other members of the group who were earlier arrested included 14 other juveniles, aged between 14 and 18, and two adults, Febiano Lungu, aged 19, and Frederick Lukumo, aged 20.

Police Spokespers­on, Rae Hamoonga, said the suspects, identified as members of a group self-identifyin­g as the "Bloodies," were apprehende­d as a result of a coordinate­d police operation that was carried during the early hours of yesterday around 06:30 hours.

Mr Hamoonga said the investigat­ions leading to the arrests unfolded swiftly after the incident on January 18, 2024.

He said the police received informatio­n that the 15-year-old juvenile, believed to be the main perpetrato­r, had sought refuge in Chibombo. An extensive search operation was carried out, leading to the successful arrest of the juvenile yesterday in Chibombo.

Mr Hamoonga said all the arrested individual­s were in police custody.

“The charges against some of the arrested individual­s include murder, and further investigat­ions are underway to ascertain any additional criminal activities or connection­s to their self-proclaimed group, the "Bloodies,” he said.

Mr Hamoonga said the police were committed to ensuring that justice prevailed for the victim.

He said the suspects would face the full consequenc­es of their actions.

“The collaborat­ion of the Police and the community played a crucial role in the swift resolution of this case. The police are dedicated to maintainin­g the safety and security of our communitie­s and will continue to address criminal activities through decisive and lawful measures,” Mr Hamoonga said.
