Luangwa DC, urges police officers, civil servants to take advantage of SAFF loans

Luangwa District commission­er, Luke Chikani, has called on police officers and civil servants in the district to take advantage of government’s Sustainabl­e Agricultur­e Finance Facility (SAFF) Loans

Mr Chikani explained that the loan facility is an opportunit­y for civil servants including men and women in uniform to help boost crop and livestock production in the district as well as complement their salaries.

“The SAFF loan facility will help to boost food security and supplement your salaries”, he said.

Mr Chanika applauded the Zambia Police in the district for their commitment to justice and equity in the provision of services to the community.

He said this when he officiated at Luangwa police station's end of year party held at Gerasimos lodge in Luangwa District.

He said his office recognizes the courage and profession­alism exhibited by the men and women in uniform in the district.

“You are appreciate­d more than you know for doing a job that puts the interests of others and for being heroes in the community”, he said.

The District Commission­er further thanked the government procuring Toyota Land cruisers for the Police

Service of which the has also benefited.

He urged the Luangwa Police management through the officer in Charge to maintain the vehicle in good condition.

Mr Chikani took advantage of the event to emphasize on the need for the officers in the district to adhere district to the cholera and other communicab­le disease preventive measures.

Luangwa Police Station officer in Charge Chief Inspector Dominic Makandauko revealed that in 2023, the Police Station received 380 cases, out of which 192 were taken to court, 183 were convicted, 9 were discharged on nolle prosequi and 188 cases were withdrawn by complainan­ts.

He added that the station also received 8 cases of drowning, five cases of Human Animal conflict, and four water traffic offences and over 278 road traffic offences.

The officer in charge thanked the business community, private and government heads of department in the district for the support rendered to his office in 2023.
