Govt. ready to further strengthen bilateral ties with South Korea
Minister Local Government Rural Development, Gary Nkombo says Government is ready to strengthen more bilateral and multilateral cooperation with South Korea and the globe in an effort to accelerate delivery of more meaningful development in rural communities
Mr Nkombo has also implored the Korean investors to take advantage of Zambia’s favourable investment climate to invest in various sectors such as agriculture which has over one million hectares of arable land for farming activities.
He made the remarks when South Korean Ambassador-Designate to Zambia Park Je-Kyung paid a courtesy call on him at his office to discuss various issues.
And Mr Park Je-Kyung has pledged to strengthen bilateral cooperation with Zambia towards enhancing rural development to improve livelihoods of local communities through the national decentralisation policy
Mr Je-Kyung Kyung stated that his country is willing to offer financial and technical support to help accelerate efforts by the Zambian Government to implement more development projects in rural communities taking advantage of political stability.
He said this is because South Korea has enjoyed cordial relations with Zambia for many years and is eager to increase its volume of bilateral assistance.
Mr Je-Kyung stated that his country will share more development ideas focused on rolling out new investments in Zambia targeting areas to promote mechanised agriculture projects and infrastructure development in rural communities.
He also said the two countries can utilise Saemaul undong (SMU), which is a South Korean strategy aimed at accelerating development in the country.
