MOPANI IS FINALLY DONE, WE NOW WAIT FOR KCM

-

THE recent development of Mopani Copper Mines paying off suppliers and contractors has given us hope as Copperbelt Province residents, especially here in Chililabombwe/ Chingola.

This is because we also have KCM for which we are diligently waiting for Vedanta Resources to fully take over and provide the much needed recapitalisation.

The resolution of matters surrounding KCM and Mopani

Copper Mines, has been our cry as Copperbelt residents for a long time.

That is why, the recent development of Mopani starting to pay off contractors and suppliers has elated us very much.

Now we have even greater confidence in President Hakainde Hichilema and Mr Paul Kabuswe's capacity to deliver meaningful development in the mining sector.

We therefore remain hopeful that, even KCM will soon see the Provisional Liquidator removed to pave way for Vedanta Resources.

As community members, we are especially eager to witness the over K520 million CSR investment, the over $1 billion dollars investment which will translate into massive employment opportunities, 20 percent salary increments and paying off suppliers and contractors to the tune of $250 million dollars.

What we are starting to witness in the mining sector across the Copperbelt, is the change we voted for, it is the change we have always wanted.

Government has fully delivered on Mopani. We therefore hope for Government, through the Ministry of Mines and Minerals Development to also expedite the KCM process so that the people of Chililabombwe, Chingola and Nampundwe are not left behind.
