EGYPTIAN CONSTRUCTION COMPANY PLEDGE TO SUPPORT MUCHINGA’S INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT
The Arab Contractors Company based in Egypt has pledged to support Muchinga Province in Zambia in its developmental agenda.
Arab Contractors Senior Vice Chairman Engineer Elrefy Hossam says the company is ready to collaborate with Muchinga Province in order to bring development in the area.
Eng. Hossam says following the visit by Muchinga Province Minister, Henry Sikazwe, and his delegation to lobby for support in developing the province, the Arab Contractors Company delegation will visit Muchinga Province in Zambia next month to start the process.
"We need to put several modalities together and see how this can be done. On our part, we are ready to send a very highly delegated team to your province to carry out an assessment," he said.
He added that the Arab
Contractors Company under the supervision of the Armed Forces Engineering Authority, Military Engineers Department is one of the largest construction companies in the continent which is experienced in infrastructure development.
He noted that if all modalities are put in place, Muchinga Province and Zambia as a whole will benefit from the infrastructure development.
Eng. Hossam was speaking when a delegation from Muchinga Province in Zambia held a meeting at Arab Contractors Company in Cairo Egypt.
And speaking earlier, Muchinga Province Minister Henry Sikazwe said there is need for the province and the Arab contractors company to work together if development is to be attained in Muchinga.
Mr Sikazwe said the company has so far proved to be the best as it can be seen from the works that have been done so far in Egypt and other countries where the company has been engaged to undertake projects.
"We have seen a lot of good infrastructure constructed by your company and our hope is that we also benefit from the same infrastructure development," He said.
Mr Sikazwe further stated that the aim of the visit is to lobby for various companies' support in developing Muchinga province.
And speaking at the same meeting, Muchinga Province Permanent Secretary, Henry Mukungule, stated that Muchinga Province's geographical location gives it easy access to markets and good connections to the road, rail network and to energy and communication systems.
Mr Mukungule informed the Arab Contractors Company that the province has a lot of opportunities in
sectors such as agriculture, tourism, energy, manufacturing and mining.
The Permanent Secretary further called on the Arab contractors to ensure that they come on board to help in the development of the province which will see more people benefit.
Later, both Muchinga Province entourage, together with the Arab Contractors Company representatives, visited the Tahya Masr and Taha Hussien bridges which the company constructed in 18 and nine months respectively.
