MY WORST IS BETTER THAN HH’S WORST - ECL

-

Former President Lungu said Zambians were fed up with President Hakainde Hichilema’s oneman dictatorship along with his monumental failure to deliver and it is therefore within their rights to demand for his resignation and call for early elections.

“What we now have is dictatorship… it is a one-man dictatorship where no one says any word and the man gets away with everything… including the Judiciary, the Legislature and the Electoral Commission of Zambia.

We know what is going on. We in the Patriotic Front (PF) were not the best but we were much better that what we have now and that is a fact. Head to shoulder, we were above the UPND and that is a fact,” former President Lungu said.

The former head of State said he had been interacting with Zambians who had helped the UPND form government and were regretting and disappointed with the manner and style President Hichilema was governing the country and were now demanding that he should be forced to resign.

“I have interacted with some of the people who helped the UPND (form government) and they are saying the man should go. They are saying what he is doing is not what we agreed and they are telling us that the man has failed and should not continue.”

“Can we call for early elections? That is for you Zambians to tell us to call for early elections. It cannot come from me. It is within your rights as citizens to demand for early elections so that we can put pressure on him to resign and call for early elections.

President Hichilema is on record claiming that Edgar Lungu (former President) had failed and should call for early elections. So, in light of what we are seeing, Zambians have the right to demand for early elections. Dr Kenneth Kaunda had to call for early election three years ahead of the end of his term,” for President Lungu said.

He explained that it was not wrong for Zambians to voer for the UPND in 2021 except that what they did not know was the power that came with the presidency.

He said the power President Hichilema was using was the same he had when he served as head of State, the difference was the head of State had completely changed and was not listening to the complaints of citizens.

“I am not saying it was wrong to vote for the UPND but what Zambians did not know was the power that was in State House. The power he (President Hichilema is using is the same power I had but do you see how things have changed. The difference is that I was well brought up. They (UPND government) are saying Lungu was the worst liar but my worst was far much better than what we have. Edgar Lungu was much better and if you want to compare, just look at the agriculture and health sectors. Look at the exchange rate,” Mr Lungu said.
