OVER 3,000 KWACHA CDF SET ASIDE FOR NEW MATERNITY WING IN LIMULUNGA

THE Constituen­cy Developmen­t Fund (CDF) has pumped over three hundred thousand kwacha into the constructi­on of a modern maternity wing at Limulunga mini-hospital in Western Province.

“The maternity wing has been constructe­d at a total cost of K341, 868 by a woman contractor. It is water-borne, it has self-contained toilets and showers, it has ceiling boards and will also have tiles,” Mr Kaonga said.

He said the structure is completed with only some minor works remaining to be completed, adding that before the end of February it will be commission­ed.

‘’We don’t need to see our mothers suffering to access the health facility, thus, during the financial year 2022 and 2023, a number of projects under the health department were approved,” Mr Kaonga said.

Acting District Health Director, Mubiana Mubiana thanked the government for the developmen­t noting that currently, the mini-hospital is using a structure that was designated for a mother’s shelters.

“With this building we shall have a designated maternity annex and provide all the services surroundin­g the safety of pregnancy and child birth to avoid maternal mortalitie­s,” Mr Mubiana said.

He said the office is committed to support the actualizat­ion of the Presidenti­al directive of health facilities to host maternal annexes, running water, among other requiremen­ts.

“We are seeing the benefits of CDF. We thank the government of the day for these positive pronouncem­ents that will contribute greatly to universal health coverage,” Mr Mubiana said

He said that 662 expectant women are expected to have access to maternal health this year, adding that such a facility is crucial for the wellbeing of expectant mothers.
