MWENYA MUSENGE WELCOMES OPPOSITION ALLIANCE
MWENYA Musenge has welcomed the coming together of opposition political parties with the aim of forming a united front in the form of an alliance meant to check on the UPND government excesses such as the diminishing democratic space.
Mr Musenge is calling on Zambians to raise a red flag against the UPND government because it has brought pain, hunger and poverty in many homes because of its misplaced priorities and poor macroeconomic policies.
Mr Musenge, the Advocates for People’s Prosperity (APP) leader said President Hichilema was given a performance-based contract by Zambians and now that he has lamentably failed to deliver, they must raise a red flag against him.
He has commended the opposition for coming together and condemned the decision to increase the price of fuel, stating that it was clear that the new dawn administration had failed to deliver on various campaign promises.
“The contract given to President Hichilema by Zambians in the 2021 elections was performance-based and now that it is proven that he has failed, I am urging Zambians to raise a red flag against him.
Zambians should give the UPND a vote of no confidence as early as now before the country is completely broken down, economically, socially and politically.”
“Life for majority poverty-stricken Zambians has become unbearable. I am urging Zambians to raise a red flag against the Hakainde Hichilema-led UPND government because it has lamentably failed to yield desirable results but has instead brought pain, hunger and poverty in many homes,” Mr Musenge said
Mr Musenge said he was happy that the opposition parties had come together because there was power and strength in unity and urged them to continue with the same spirit until the UPND was dislodged from government
“In unity, there is power and strength. When you come together and put hands together, you achieve a lot of things. This is why I am commending fellow opposition parties for coming together. We need to join efforts to dislodge the UPND from government” Mr Musenge said
When asked why the APP was not at the briefing, Mr Musenge said this was because it is yet to consult its members and was yet to put its structures in place
“I support the decision taken by fellow opposition parties although I was not there during the briefing. I was not there because we did not consult our members and our party is still in its infancy,” Mr Musenge said
And commenting on the fuel price, Mr Musenge said he was not surprised that the fuel price had been hiked because rumors were already circulating that it would be increased to K40 per litre
He, however said the increasing fuel price would worsen the poverty and hunger levels in communities where the majority poverty-stricken Zambians were wallowing in hunger
“When the fuel price is increased, it affects everyone and so with this increment, prices of essential commodities will skyrocket. Now, imagine with this situation, you increase fuel, it means you worsen the lives of the majority poverty-stricken Zambians,” Mr Musenge said.
