Wonderful Group of Companies join crusade against cholera
WONDERFUL Group of Companies has joined the fight against cholera as they donate essential materials to combat the disease valued over K2 million to the Ministry of Health.
Speaking at the handover of materials at Ministry of Health, Wonderful Group board chairperson, Gilbert Temba said the group believes in uplifting communities and sharing in is success by giving back to the people.
He said it was a momentous occasion to work with Government and the Ministry of Health in the fight against and mitigating of the cholera pandemic.
Mr Temba said their companies have not been idle during the challenging period that the country and the ministry has been going through.
The materials that were donated included 100, 000 bottles of 250ml of chlorine, 100, 000 sachets of ORS, 500 rain coats and 500 complete hand washing buckets and stands.
Mr Temba said it was not the first time that the companies were donating to the ministry and other government institutions, in 2021 the companies responded to the covid-19 by providing face masks and hygiene materials worth over K1.8 million, handed over 20 hospital beds with maternity and mini-theatre facilities built at US $ 400,000.
“We also constructed a modern police post and provided three operational vehicles to the police service at a cost of US $ 510, 000 among other corporate social responsibilities,” he said.
And Ministry of Health Permanent Secretary in charge of donor coordination George Sinyangwe thanked the Wonderful Group for their kind gesture as it would go a long way in fight the outbreak of cholera.
He also called on other companies to emulate the group in giving back to the communities they operate from.
