CDF projects in Kawambwa commissioned
Provincial Minister, Njavwa Simutowe, handed over 49 projects to the beneficiaries in both Kawambwa Central and Pambashe Constituencies over the weekend.
ZANIS reports that Mr Simutowe, who is also Mbala Member of Parliament, said government has attached great importance to developing all parts of the country hence the increase in CDF allocation.
He stated that government under President Hakainde Hichilema has prioritised the provision of quality health services, decent houses for public workers, safe drinking water to the communities and conducive learning environment for pupils.
Mr Simutowe added that Government has further recognised CDF as an appropriate tool for effective delivery of projects, direct financing of community development as well as responding directly to development demands of constituencies.
“The Constituency Development Fund has evolved in scope and extent with financial allocation which requires enhanced prudence in the manner it is utilised and managed as it is meant for social and economic development and sustainability,” the Minister noted.
The Minister urged the Ministry of Health, Zambia Police, Ministry of Education and the communities who are the beneficiaries, to guard the facilities with utmost care because the government has spent huge sums of money on the projects.
Meanwhile, Kawambwa Town Council Chairperson, Kalumba Chifumbe commended the government for the massive developmental projects being implemented in the district.
Mr Chifumbe expressed hope that the increase

in CDF from 28.3 Million Kwacha in 2023 to 30.6 Million Kwacha in 2024, will go a long way in addressing some of the many community infrastructure challenges the district was facing.
He assured the Central government that the Local authority was equal to the task of ensuring that all the remaining projects under construction are completed on time without compromising on quality.
Among the projects that were commissioned include two health posts, one local court, four ablution blocks, one paved bus station, 13 solar powered boreholes, 17 staff houses and eleven 1x3 classroom blocks.
