Court orders release of Findlay’s passport
LUSAKA Principal Magistrate, Sylvia Munyinya has ordered that Harry Findlay, a Lusaka business executive should be given back his passport temporarily to enable him travel out for medication.
This was after one of his lawyers, Mr. Charles Changano applied to the court that his client needed to undergo a medical review in South Africa.
Mr. Changano said his client would comply with the conditions that will be set by the court.
“We have filed before court the details that shows that he is due for medical attention and he is supposed to be there on February 9, 2024. We urge this court to grant the application to enable the accused attend medical attention,” Mr. Changano submitted.
In response, state prosecutor, Brian Syanyengo said he had no objection to the application so long the defence comply with the conditions that would be set by the court.
The court granted the accused an application and said he should return the passport to the clerk of the court immediately he returns.
Findlay is facing with two counts of holding more than one passport and found with endorsements of forged immigration stamps, the charge he denied.
It is alleged in count one, that Findlay on October 3, 2022, in Lusaka, did acquire a Zambian passport number ZP021382, purporting to have lost a Zambian passport number ZP013259, contrary to the fact.
In the second count, it is alleged that on the same date, Findlay was found in possession of endorsements of forged immigration stamps for Mwami immigration border control in his passport number ZP032178, purporting that it was officially endorsed when in fact not.
