POLICE TOP BRASS IN LAND CORRUPTION SCAM

THE Zambia Police top command comprising serving and retired officers have been implicated in a corruption scandal and have been accused of taking pecuniary advantage in a land dispute in Lusaka West.

The land dispute dates back from 10 years ago where the Police command were accused of having allegedly displaced a local community a matter that was actively before civil ligation in the courts of law.

But some affected members of community in Buchetekel­o Farms in Lusaka West had sought on the Anti -Corruption Commission (ACC) to reopen the corruption cases against some top police officers which were reported 10 years ago but where alleged to have been shielded with cases stalling.

According to documents obtained by Millennium Radio News, Inspector General of Police Graphael Musamba, his deputies for State House and administra­tion Fanwell Siandenge and Eugene Sibote as well as former IG Martin Malama were among the 18 top officers named in the land scandal.

The officers were accused of having drawn Zambia Police Service imprest and machinery on displaceme­nt exercise on the pretext that it was a Zambia Police exercise when it was in their individual capacities.

Further documents showed receipt of how the monies where used in the exercise where a number of police recruits were also engaged.

The over 300 affected families had told Millennium Radio that they had re engaged the ACC on Wednesday to reopen the matter looking at how the case was shielded under the previous administra­tion.

Speaking through some representa­tives, the families expressed confidence with the new dawn administra­tion’s stance against corruption, the matter would be pursued to the letter and put it to conclusion.
