Yucai School director defiles eight-year-old pupil

AN EIGHT-YEAR-OLD girl, a grade three at Yucai Zambian School in Garden House compound of Lusaka has been defiled by a 65-year-old man who is a director at the school but the matter has died a natural death.

Mr Li Min, a Chinese national defiled the girl on February 22, 2023 and the matter was reported to Kanyama police.

According to one of the directors at the same school, Dai Tao, Mr Li defiled the pupil and was arrested on the same day at Kanyama police but was mysteriously released the following day.

Ms. Dai said the victim was interviewed by the teachers at the school and confirmed that Mr Li had carnal knowledge with her.

She said the girl underwent medical examination and it was confirmed that she was indeed defiled and the records were with the police.

Ms. Dai said she wondered why Mr Li was released and the matter was not brought before the court for close to a year now.

“I have been trying to follow up on the issue but all my efforts were in vain especially that the parents of the girl mostly the mother has not been cooperating and she has since disappeared and it’s clear that she has been taken to an unknown place,”she said.

She said she suspects that then victim’s mother was paid some money that was why she was avoiding to bring the child to give a statement and does not want the matter to go before the courts of law.

But when contacted, Police spokesperson Rae Hamoonga confirmed that the matter was reported to police but it had been dragging because the mother of the victim had not been cooperating.

Yucai Zambian School is currently closed and the matter regarding its closure is still in court.
