CHANGALA FEARS CATHOLIC CHURCH HAS BEEN CONTAINED BY THE UPND

-

Mr Changala said he was deeply worried that the Catholic Bishops had not condemned the victimization of former Registrar of Societies Thandiwe Mhende-Phiri by the UPND government for refusing the make illegal changes to the list of the office bearers of the Patriotic Front (PF).

“I am a Catholic and the Catholic stand for peace and justice. But this is the first time in history that the Catholicc Church has gone into hibernation while the country is being torn apart by a regime that has no respect for the rule of law. During the days of Kenneth Kaunda and UNIP dictatorship, the Catholic Church rose and sacrificed to face the dictatorship head on. Now we have a feeble dictator who has contained the Catholic Church and it has slipped into hibernation,” Mr Changala said.

Mr Changala observed that the UPND had been busy sharing the country’s money among themselves with their cadres through a myriad of consent judgements that had seen millions of the country’s money pocketed.

He said in normal circumstances, the Catholic Church should have come out strongly through Pastoral Letters to condemn the plundering and looting of the country’s treasury being perpetrated by the UPND leadership through consent jugements that were being procured by Attorney General Mulilo Kabesha.

“This is puzzling to the flock that are living on the doctrine of justice and peace. Since the depature of Emeritus Archbishop Mpundu, the ZCCB has become a bystander and an onlooker watching our Constitution and democratic values being raped and pulverized by our elected thugs. We have seen the Executive compromise the Judiciary and the Legislature while the church is watching with arms akimbo,” Mr Changala said.
