Sincerity is needed from Government over KCM

-

IN trying to resolve the matters surrounding the operations of KCM, the government must be sincere, in short, they should not be hypocritical, pretend or deceiving to the Zambians and particularly the communities, the host the mines, suppliers and contractors.

Just what is holding Vedanta from taking full control of the mines immediately? or is it that Government is not aware that the mines are not operating?

Doesn't Government know that some workers go for work but only to sit and wait for a pay without doing any work? Are they not aware that workers are being put on forced leave without any pay whatsoever?

There is need for an immediate solution to the resuscitation of the mine operations to avoid a disaster, as the delays persist, the more compound the challenges and problems will be for both the mines, associated businesses, the communities and governments as it is the source of revenue.

If Vedanta is committed to liquidating the debt of about US$250 million as they had promised, why isn't that happening so that economic activities can be revamped in our communities, and country at large, and save the employment of our brothers and sisters working in the mines and other indirect jobs or is the delay being caused by the rumours going round that some foreign individuals who funded the mine during the illegal liquidation process are demanding about 40 percent of the money meant for local

Government must understand that resolving this compounding challenge soonest will help free contractors and suppliers who may have borrowed from the banks for supply of goods and services to the mines and change the declining goodwill people have about the ruling government. not only that, once operations resume, Government will get taxes, people will benefit through Social Corporate Responsibility, contractors contractors and supplies?
