Political leaders called upon to unite in the face of hunger
ZAMBIA’s Sixth President Dr Edgar Lungu was yesterday among the Christian faithful and believers who attended the declaration of Zambia as a Christian nation prayers at the Cathedral of the Holly Cross.
Former President Lungu joined many Zambians in prayer for God’s intervention in many of the social and economic challenges the country is going through as well as the rains following the persistent dry spells the country has been experiencing.
Former President Lungu who has previously said Zambia was threatened with famine as a result of the drought that has officially hit six Provinces, including Southern, Western, Lusaka and Central Provinces has been calling for God’s divine intervention to the drought.

Nation says in such situations, a nation like Zambia must look to God.
Advocates Chairperson, Bishop Billy Mfula said during the prayers that there was a critical need to unite in faith beyond political divides because it was with united faith and hearts that the Lord God would answer prayers so that severe hunger should be averted.
Bishop Mfula has called on political leaders to be united in times like this in order to provide credible solutions that would help save the country from acute hunger which is currently threatening many parts of the country.
He said the current situation needed concerted efforts in order to curb the looming hunger.
And United Party for National Development (UPND) Religious Affairs Chairperson, William Njombo said the ruling party shall remain optimistic that Zambia shall be saved and shall experience good rains that would result into a positive harvest.
