- By NAMO PHIRI

PROFLIGHT Zambia has continued soaring its wings higher as it commemorates landmark achievements one of which is the launch of the Lusaka-Cape Town direct route last July.

Speaking during the commemoration in Cape Town, which was organised in partnership with Taj Cape Town, Proflight Zambia Director of Flight Operations Captain Josias Walubita said the Lusaka-Cape Town direct flights would further improve the tourism sectors in the two countries.

Capt Walubita said this was because a good transport network was vital for the tourism sector to thrive.

He said Proflight Zambia envisioned continued expansion unlocking new tourism and business opportunities.

“Zambia is home to natural treasures like the Victoria Falls and boasts the second largest wildebeest migration globally, equally Cape Town’s breathtaking landscapes, infrastructure and cosmopolitan offerings make it a world-class destination for regional and global tourists,” said Capt Walubita

Capt Walubita said Proflight was determined to encourage travel between South Africa and Zambia so that people from the two countries experience the vast wonders within the two borders.

And Capt Walubita said the Lusaka-Cape Town direct flights would also enhance the business sectors in the two countries.

He also said that the introduction of the direct route had made significant progress over the last seven months which had led to the increased number of trips in a week from two to three times.

“This in itself gets to show that indeed we have made significant progress in as far as the introduction of the direct route is concerned,” said Capt Walubita

And Taj Cape Town General Manager Mark Wernich said the launching of the direct route had been beneficial to the hotel because it meant more people coming into the country.

Mr Wernich said the hotel decided to partner with Proflight Zambia after looking at the benefits that would come with increased number of people who were coming into the country.
