PK Chishala ‘resurrects’ in Parley

...as Gary Nkombo entices PF MPs to defect to UPND to help clean up the ‘mess’

- By NNATION REPORTER

GARY Nkombo yesterday invoked the vocals of Zambia’s foremost guitarist and musician Peter Kalumba Chishala in his famous song “Amalushi” when he insinuated that the UPND was cleaning up the mess allegedly left behind by the Patriotic Front (PF).

Mr Nkombo, the Minister of Local Government and Rural Development as well as acting Infrastructure Minister is appealing to Zambians to allow the UPND to revive the economy from the malaise which according to him, was left by the PF.

“Allow us to clean up the .... not the mess...the malaise...allow us to resuscitate ourselves from the malaise that we were left with. Believe you me, had the Zambian

people made an error to allow the PF to continue after 2021, this country would have ground to a halt and people must understand that. This country would have shut down," Mr Nkombo said.

“Please give us just this time for us to prove to you that you can only spend that which you have in your pocket. We will do what is right, sustainable and long time so that by the time our tenure is finished, the Zambian people will look back and say there was a group of serious Zambians who took office and cleaned up things which were left by those who they found. We use such strong language so that you know that this is not a circus. Running a business is not a circus,” Mr Nkombo said.

Mr Nkombo went politically ballistic and claimed that had the UPND not won elections in 2021 to govern, Zambia would have shut down.

He said Zambia would have gone into malaise, a state of weakness had the PF continued in government.

Mr Nkombo was responding to a question from Mr Christopher Chibuye, the Mkushi North PF MP who wanted to know whether the government had any plans to upgrade the Chiponya-Masansa-Old Mkushi road to bituminous standard.

But Mr Mutotwe Kafwaya, the PF Lunte MP asked if Mr Nkombo was fair to accuse Mr Chibuye of having messed up the country when he only ascended to office in 2021.

In response, Mr Nkombo wondered why new PF MPs had continued belonging to the former governing party when they could easily join the UPND.
