Frank Bwalya ‘stammers’ on why he joined UPND

- By NATION REPORTER

FRANK Bwalya has failed to tell the nation the reasons he joined the UPND and support President Hakainde Hichilema whom he used to malign and characterise as a useless President running a clueless government.

Mr Bwalya joined the UPND last week and suddenly changed from being a hardcore critic of Mr Hichilema and the UPND to singing praises of the good policies they have implemented which he claims would transform the country.

Mr Bwalya, who featured on a KBN TV programme, was asked to explain what had changed about President Hichilema and UPND from being the most useless President and clueless government to being the government of hope.

In his response, Mr Bwalya confessed that he had no explanation for that, except that what he had realised was that the ruling party was moving in a right trajectory to changing the country’s fortunes.

He said for now, he would concentrate on supporting President Hichilema so that he could continue delivering for the people.

“What is important is that Mr Hichilema and the party he is leading has welcomed us. It shows that he has a good heart. I used to speak like that (calling President Hichilema useless and running a clueless government) because I was in the opposition and the opposition will continue to speak in a similar fashion as I used to,” Mr Bwalya said.

Mr Bwalya said he could not continue using disparaging words against President Hichilema when, according to him, things were now going on well, citing the increased number of beneficiaries on Social Cash Transfer.

He also said President Hichilema had so far managed the debt restructuring process, a feat Mr Bwalya believes was one of the best achievements for the head of State as it had seemed impossible to others.

Mr Bwalya also said while in opposition he had branded President Hichilema useless and called him names to de-campaign the ruling party.
