Zanaco, Warriors seek redemption

- By MICHAEL MIYOBA

AFTER last weekend’s humiliating 5-0 defeat to “Mighty” Mufulira Wanderers, Sensational Zanaco FC will today seek redemption when they host rejuvenated Napsa Stars in a Week-22 MTN/FAZ Super League fixture at Sunset Stadium in Lusaka.

The midlands derby promises sparks with the Bankers seeking revenge for the painful 3-0 defeat recorded when they faced Napsa Stars in the first round of the Super League.

For the Pensioners who escaped the jaws of relegation after last weekend’s impressive 1-0 win over Kabwe Warriors, getting a consecutive win will be crucial to stay in a safe zone on the Super League table.

Napsa coach Perry Mutapa will hope that his charges will be in good form to overcome Wedson Nyirenda’s side who dropped to tenth on the log after the loss to “Mighty” last weekend.

Meanwhile, Kabwe Warriors will also be seeking to recover from last week’s defeat to Napsa Stars when they host Prison Leopards in a Kabwe derby at the Godfrey Chitalu Stadium.

Warriors will fight hard to avoid recording a third consecutive defeat after losing to Mufulira Wanderers and Napsa Stars in the last two league matches.

However, the derby will not be an easy fixture for Wariors who will be facing a side determined to escape the relegation zone.

Leopards are unbeaten in the last three games where they have managed seven points from two wins and one draw.

At Nakambala Stadium in Mazabuka, FC Muza will hope to bounce back from the 1-0 beating by Nkana FC when they host Green Eagles in a Southern derby.

The match presents a tricky test for Alex Namazaba and his Green Eagles charges who were beaten 4-0 by defending champions Power Dynamos last weekend in Choma.

At the Independence Stadium in Solwezi, Kansanshi Dynamos and High Flying Nkwazi will face off in another exciting Super League clash.

While Kansanshi will be hoping to recover from the 2-1 defeat to Leopards, Nkwazi, who are fourth on the Super League table with 33 points will hope to protect their good run after beating Green Buffaloes in a service derby last weekend.

Tomorrow, Super League action continues at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium where Mutondo Stars, after five consecutive defeats will host Trident FC in a lunch time kick off.

Ndola giants Zesco United and Power will face off in the second fixture of the double header at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.
