FAZ EAST HOLDS SUCCESSFUL AGM
…as PS hails impact of refurbished DK Stadium on community
He urged sports administrators to work towards developing sports and not just politicking.
Thole also implored FAZ to source more funds to improve the facility more with special emphasis on the open wing and the two standing areas on the northern and southern ends.
Meanwhile, Kamanga said the association’s books remain available for scrutiny by various stakeholders.
Kamanga said FIFA audits projects they fund and frown upon misappropriation of funds.
“It is common knowledge that the US$300, 000 for each of the five projects was for rehabilitation and not building of ultra-modern facilities that cost a lot more money. The bulk of the money was gobbled by the installation of the playing surface which was built to world class standard,” he said.
“For the record, the project's funds are disbursed on milestones achieved by the contractors. For all the projects, balances remain on the FIFA accounts which funds will be disbursed when projects are completed. Our books remain available for scrutiny by stakeholders,” Kamanga said.
Meanwhile Kamanga challenged the provinces where stadia rehabilitation projects are yet to be completed to learn from the FAZ membership in Eastern Province.
Eastern Province became the second region to hold a hugely successful annual general meeting after Northern Province.
All the 10 provinces will hold assemblies preceding the main annual general meeting that will be convened as the climax of the 2023 football calendar.
Under the new FAZ constitution all 10 provinces hold annual meetings as part of the process leading up to the national caucus.
