CEEC disburses over K2 Million to 179 beneficiar­ies in Chipata

Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprise Developmen­t through Citizens Economic Empowermen­t Commission (CEEC), has disbursed K2.79 million Kwacha through the Busulu Micro finance loans benefiting 179 women, youths and people living with disabiliti­es.

CEEC Public Relations Manager, Michelo Mukata says in addition to the K2.79 million, the commission has further added 500,000 Kwacha which was disbursed at the2024 N’cwala Ceremony in Chipata town of Eastern Province.

Mr Mukata said this during an interview with ZANIS at the 2024 N’cwala ceremony at the CEEC exhibition stand in Chipata in Eastern Province.

He indicated that the disburseme­nt of the loans is a way for CEEC to support the communitie­s through various initiative­s through the Busulu loans.

The PR Manager further pointed out that CEEC has been in Eastern Province to sensitize people on the services it provides and monitor projects by the beneficiar­ies in the province.

Mr Mukata said the commission also took advantage of the traditiona­l ceremony to clear the backlog of loan applicatio­ns received by the commission.

He further reminded the loan beneficiar­ies to ensure that they pay back in order to allow other recipients to benefit from the Busulu loans.

And a beneficiar­y from Eastern Province, Domaida Ziwa thanked the government for the busulu loans that has benefited many vulnerable people in the country.

Ms Ziwa said the loan which she applied for on the 22nd of February has been granted to her in a space of two days without any challenges.

She called on other people from her community to take advantage of the loans as they are meant to improve their lives.

She highlighte­d that the K5000 loan that has been granted to her will help boost her agro dealing business hence improve her livelihood with the drought challenges that the country is currently facing.

The Citizens Economic Empowermen­t Commission (CEEC), a statutory under the Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprise­s Developmen­t (MSMED), is a body establishe­d through the enactment of the Citizens Economic Empowermen­t Act No. 9 of 2006 to foster broadbased economic empowermen­t in Zambia.
