‘Renegade Chabinga’ escapes lynching

- By NATION REPORTER

ARMED police officers and security personnel at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport yesterday rescued suspended Mafinga Member of Parliament Robert Chabinga from being lynched for causing unnecessary confusion.

This happened when Patriotic Front (PF) and ruling party Members of Parliament went to receive Malole Member of Parliament Robert Kalimi, who was returning home from South Africa where he had been hospitalized. Mr Kalimi was evacuated to South Africa to receive medical attention after being involved in a life-threatening road accident late last year.

Mr Chabinga’s presence at the airport did not sit well with PF MPs and they almost physically manhandled him.

Remember Mutale, the Chitambo Member of Parliament told Mr Chabinga that his unbecoming behaviour would not be tolerated and should not have been at the airport as he was nothing but a renegade.

Mr Mutale told Mr Chabinga that the PF members were tired with his childish behaviour.

The angry Mr Mutale warned Chabinga, currently masquerading as Leader of the Opposition in Parliament to behave like a reasonable human being, failure to which, he would be dealt with.

But the security personnel and the police officers rescued Mr Chabinga from being physically handled by many PF members who were agitated by his behaviour.

And Mr Kalimi upon arrival at KKIA thanked the government as well as the PF leadership for the assistance they rendered while he was hospitalised in South Africa.

He said the assistance rendered was not in vain as it had helped him to recover.
