CARE INTERNATIONAL ZAMBIA LAUNCHES CBA-SCALE CLIMATE ADAPTATION PROJECT
CARE International Zambia has launched a community based adaptation scaling up community action for livelihoods and ecosystems in Southern Africa and beyond project (CBA-SCALE) aimed at enhancing climate change adaptation among communities.
Speaking when he officiated at the launch on behalf of Green Economy and Environment Permanent Secretary Dr Doubt Chibamba, Ministry Principal Director Climate Change Adaptation Kasanda Bunda said the project aligns very well with the National Adaptation Plan, the 8th National plan, vision 2030 and the Climate Change Policy among other government policies.
Dr Chibamba said the government remains committed and alive to the urgent need for innovative solutions to address the challenges posed by climate change particularly in vulnerable communities.
He said the project that was launched was not just a mere Initiative aimed at promoting livelihoods but a testament to the collective commitment to conserve the country’s natural resources and ecosystems for generations to come.
Dr Chibamba said the government welcomed the approach by the project to try out the policies and guidelines on the ground such as the National Adaptation Policy as this will help TO identify what is working and what is not and will greatly inform and contribute towards policy review and strengthening at all levels of governance.
And Speaking at the same launch, Care International Zambia Country Director Chikwe Mbweeda said the organisation as a sub grantee will receive over 3 million Euros for the overall project implementation.
Ms Mbweeda said the project will be implemented in 12 wards of Zimba district in Southern Province.
She further thanked the Germany government for the support towards the fight against climate change in the country.
And Germany Ambassador to Zambia Anne Wagner-Mitchel said the Germany government is committed to supporting climate change projects both in Germany and beyond.
