UKA CONGRATULATES UPPZ FOR ELECTION VICTORY IN KANCHIBIYA

- By NATION REPORTER

THE United Kwacha Alliance (UKA) has congratulated the United Prosperous and Peaceful Zambia (UPPZ) president Charles Chanda for a well-deserved election victory in the just ended by elections in Kanchibiya.

Mr. Sakwiba Sikota SC the UKA interim chairperson says the alliance is happy and proud to see an opposition political party emerge victorious despite the many hurdles being faced as a result of the UPND restricting the democratic space.

State Counsel Sikota said in a statement yesterday that the UPND had made it extremely difficult for the opposition political parties to participate in the by-elections from filing of nominations all the way to the campaign period.

Mr. Sikota said the UPPZ win was not only a victory the party and the opposition, but for Zambians in general and its democracy which was under attack by the UPND regime.

“Congratulations to UPPZ, UKA is very happy and proud to see an opposition political party emerge victorious despite the many hurdles that are put along the way from filing all the way to the campaign period. The UPPZ win is not only a win for the

UPPZ and the opposition, but the entire Zambian democracy which is under attack by the UPND regime,” Mr Sikota said.

He said the win should encourage the UPPZ and other political parties to continue to work hard and to work together to win all the upcoming by elections as they prepare to subsequently win the general elections in 2026.

“On behalf of UKA, I once again say congratulations, and may this be the beginning of many more wins to come,’’ Mr. Sikota said.

And Mr Chanda has vowed that his party shall be action-oriented beyond election promises, emphasising that their win heralds a new era of governance focused on delivering tangible results that extend far beyond conventional campaign promises.

Mr. Chanda has also extended thanks to the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) the Zambia Police, and the dedicated voters who collectively contributed to the smooth conduct of the election process.

“This win not only secures a seat in Munchinga Province but also underscores the pivotal role that UPPZ envisions playing in shaping a prosperous and peaceful future for the region,” he said.
