Abundance Farming Investment Limited (AFIL), incorporated in Zambia in June 2022, is proposing to embark on an ambitious agricultural venture on a 2526.3068 ha piece of land in Manshya Farm Block, acquired in December 2023. The project envisions a diverse farming operation that includes the cultivation of coffee, avocados, citrus, macadamia, and a rotation of wheat, onions, and cover crops, alongside the integration of livestock to promote regenerative soil practices. AFIL plans to develop the farm with comprehensive infrastructure improvements such as electrification, land clearing, irrigation facilities, construction of storage sheds, staff houses, access roads, and fencing, aiming to create a sustainable, diversified agricultural ecosystem that benefits the local economy and environment.

Abundance Farming Investments has therefore, engaged Crownbit Environmental Solutions to undertake an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for the proposed project and prepare an environmental impact statement (EIS) report in line with the provisions of Environmental Management Act No.12 of 2011 as amended by Act No. 8 of 2023 and the Statutory Instrument (SI) No. 28 of 1997.

As part of the environmental impact assessment process, Crownbit will be conducting scoping meetings at district and community levels to introduce the project to the stakeholders and get their views, concerns, comments and issues that can be included in the EIS in relation to the proposed development. Therefore, we are warmly inviting government agencies, local authorities, civil society, nongovernmental organisations, community and faith-based organisations, interested parties and individuals to this scoping meeting. The scoping meetings will help the developer/consultant to come up with the scope of works for Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) studies.

Meeting Venue: Mutanga Lodge along Great North Road of Shiwang’andu Road (Shiwang’andu District)

Date: 14th March, 2024
