…Brian Mundubile, the Leader of Opposition in Parliament says some individuals have been sponsored to petition the National Assembly to declare the Malole seat vacant and induce a by-election

THE Patriotic Front (PF) says it has unearthed a plot in which there are schemes to have the Malole Parliamentary seat held by Mr Robert Kalimi vacant on false grounds that the current law maker is unable to be in the House.

Brian Mundubile, Leader of Opposition in Parliament has described maneuvers to induce a by-election in Malole on grounds that Mr Kalimi, the PF legislature was not fit to continue carrying out his legislative duties as evil.

Some residents in Malole Constituency have petitioned the Speaker of National Assembly Nelly Mutti to declare the seat vacant as the incumbent MP can no longer perform duties because of his health.

But Mr Mundubile, the Mporokoso Member of Parliament has warned those plotting to declare Mr Kalimi’s seat vacant to stop henceforth because the PF was not going to sit by and watch illegalities being perpetrated.

He has disclosed the PF is fully aware that there were some “mingalato” to get Mr Kalimi, who was involved in a terrible road accident out of Parliament in the quest to increase numbers of the ruling party.

Mr Mundubile said the plot to petition the National Assembly to declare the Malole seat vacant and cause a by-election was nothing but evil and an act of heartlessness by individuals who could not sympathise with other people’s conditions. “As the PF, we were happy and are happy with the progress Mr Kalimi has made to recover from the terrible accident he suffered. We went to receive him at the airport and he engaged us severally and individually and he is 100 percent mentally fit and in a position to perform his legislative duties,” Mr Mundubile said.

“What is shocking however is that there are mingalato to get Mr Kalimi out of Parliament by way of declaring his seat vacant and induce a by-election in Malole Constituency? This could only be the work of evil and heartless individual that do not represent the moral fiber of Zambia. These are strange spirits that have engulfed some of our leaders to cease to be humans,” he said.

He said the Malole MP was mentally sound and was able to undertake his Parliament duties while his legs were still recovering as a result of being in that condition for some months.

Mr Mundubile said those plotting to cause a by-election in Malole while the substantive MP was still alive and fit to perform his parliamentary functions were working to stress Mr Kalimi further because they were not happy that he had recovered and still alive.
