IMINGALATO

- By CHARLES KABWITA MEMBER, UPND

OPINION T Kasumbalesa border post, currently we have had former ZipBCC employees attached to ZRA Kasumbalesa border under VTMS department which happens to be one of the critical department in the running of the border.

Unfortunately, the former ZipBCC employees were made to sign their one-year contracts under duress without given ample time to go through the document, to understand the content of the contractual agreement fully.

But later it was discovered that there is a close imbedded in the contract stating that “This contract can be terminated at any time without notice”. Colleagues this is a well-organised imingalato, purported to start eliminating former ZipBCC employees one by one so that they start fussing others because going by the content of that contract it’s like everyone is already dismissed.

We expected those people to be confirmed by now, and possibly increasing their salaries looking at the peanuts they get looking at the economic hardships we are going through unlike playing imingalato.

And I don’t blame the VTMS department for staging a strike demanding what is due for them, because it’s within their rights. Let us not be gullible citizenry and allow politicians to take advantage of us, a politician will be very comfortable to manipulate the system to suit their needs and make people believe that, what is happening is right and worst of to intimidate those speaking to maintain their grip of power while the majority are wallowing in poverty.

The most unfortunate part is having leadership which doesn’t care about the plight of the people, only concentrate where it’s beneficial to them neglecting the majority who are wallowing in poverty.

Ours is leadership of the people by the people for the people, as we press on with pride and press on with purpose.
