CHIEF Naluama of Chikankata district in Southern province has appealed to the government to quickly send relief food to avert hunger in his chiefdom.

Chief Naluama said his chiefdom is hard hit with hunger following the drought Electric which has affected his chiefdom.

He said the entire chiefdom is engulfed Motors with hunger due to the dry spell which has extensively destroyed the maize crop in Moomba Chiefdom.

The traditional leader disclosed this when Chikankata Constituency Member of Parliament, Jacqueline Sabao called on the chief at his palace yesterday.

“My people are affected with hunger due to the dry spell which has hit my chiefdom”, Chief Naluama said.

The traditional leader observed that his people will be delighted if the government can send relief food as quickly as possible because most households have nothing to eat.

And Chief Naluama’s representative,Charles Cheelo, added that there is hunger in Moomba chiefdom.

Mr Cheelo said he was optimistic that the government will send relief food to Chief Naluama and Chieftainess Mwenda of the Basanje clan to avert hunger.

He said if it was not for the drought the people of Moomba were going to produce a bumper harvest because small scale farmers received farming inputs on time during the 2023_2024 farming season.

Mr Cheelo praised the government for quickly delivering farming inputs to small scale farmers across the country during the 2023-2024 farming season.

He further hailed government for increasing the bags of fertilizer given to small scale farmers from three (3) bags to six (6) bags per farmer compared to what they received during the previous regime
