ZAMBIANS WANT ECL BACK TO PRESIDENCY - MUSOMA

…says he is the only leader who can unify and liberate the country from the shackles of authoritarian rule under the UPND

- By GRACE CHAILE

ZAMBIA Republican Party (ZRP) president, Wright Musoma says Zambians want former President, Edgar Lungu back because he is the only man who can unify and liberate the people from the economic challenges.

Mr. Musoma said in an interview that former President Lungu is the right man for Zambians and should bounce back and chastised Patriots for Economic

Progress (PEP) leader Sean Tembo for characterising the United Kwacha Alliance (UKA) as a comedy of errors.

Reacting to Mr Tembo’s statement about UKA, Mr Musoma said former President Lungu was in an alliance to save Zambia from getting balkanised at the hands of President Hakainde Hichilema and that Zambians were of the view that the former head of State should run for presidency in 2026.

“Former President Lungu came out of retirement because he saw that Zambia was being destroyed…the country was getting balkanised and he could not see and watch his own political party destroyed and annihilated. He said the man who can remove President Hichilema in 2026 and Zambians know for a fact that should the former President contest the presidency in 2026, President Hichilema would certainly be exiting. It is just that President Hichilema has grabbed the party through expelled Matero Member of Parliament Miles Sampa,” Mr Musoma said.

Mr. Musoma said he was shocked over Mr Tembo’s remarks on former President Lungu because his record was incomparable to what was happening in the country.

“We are shocked about Mr Tembo’s remarks on former President Lungu. Sean Tembo is so childish and I did not know that he would stoop so low in failing to analyse the correct situation in Zambia. Zambians are going through a lot, and because of what they are experiencing, they would not want a president like Tembo who is so petty and childish,” he said.

He said the reason former President Lungu should bounce back was that the country’s economy and democracy was in the intensive care unit.

“People don’t want someone who is portrayed as a messiah but they want someone who acts like one and works to change things. Mr Tembo’s statement was either motivated by greediness, childishness, or hatred,” Mr Musoma said.

Mr. Musoma has challenged Mr. Hichilema to let go of PF and see if former President Lungu would not win the elections again as he was the right candidate.
