TRADE KINGS FOUNDATION RENOVATES UTH WOMEN AND NEWBORN HOSPITAL WOMEN’S SHELTER

-

Trade Kings Foundation proudly handed over the completed renovation project at the UTH Women and Newborn Hospital Women’s Shelter, a national referral hospital in Zambia. Initiated in 2017, this project marks the inaugural endeavour of the Trade Kings Foundation, aiming to address critical healthcare challenges faced by mothers and newborns in the region.

The dire situation of inadequate ablution facilities and the consequent rise in mother-to-child infections leading to increased mortality rates among infants prompted Trade Kings Foundation to intervene. Recognizing the pressing need for improved hygiene facilities and upgraded infrastructure, The Foundation invested substantial resources to enhance the shelter’s amenities.

The renovated facility now boasts increased hygiene facilities, upgraded ventilation systems, expanded ablution and hygiene facilities including bathrooms, toilets, and showers, as well as improved rooms and overall bed space. These enhancements are pivotal for accommodating mothers with premature babies and those requiring specialized care.

Ms. Bridget Kambobe, spokesperson for Trade Kings Foundation, emphasized the organization’s commitment to women and children’s health, a key pillar of the Foundation’s mission. She stated, “Mothers bring life into this world, and Trade Kings places great value on them. Our brands are built on the foundation of family, and supporting mothers, who nurture and care for the family, is fundamental to our ethos.”

The project underscores Trade Kings’ dedication to corporate social responsibility and its collaboration with the Ministry of Health to augment Government efforts in providing quality healthcare services. The Foundation’s vision extends beyond immediate relief, as it is currently crafting a comprehensive 2-5 year sustainability plan to empower shelter residents towards self-sufficiency.

Reflecting on the journey, Ms. Kambobe remarked, “I felt particularly nostalgic, as this project was what started my journey with Trade Kings. I am proud and delighted to be a part of this journey that is changing lives every day. Lives are being transformed, and I believe that collectively we can impact people and effect positive change by challenging poverty.”

Trade Kings, recognized as a top ten brand and best manufacturer, among numerous accolades, continues to champion initiatives that uplift communities and foster sustainable development.
