ISOKA TOWN COUNCIL EMBARKS OF ROAD INFRASTRUCTURE MAINTENANCE
Isoka Town Council has embarked on a series of road maintenance works, focusing on repairing potholes, installing speed humps, and improving feeder and access roads.
Council Director of Works Innocent Kasembe says this project was initially funded through the capital component of the local government equalisation fund of 2023.
ZANIS reports that Eng Ksembe explained that with the phasing out of capital project funding, the council has transitioned to relying on the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) for future infrastructure and maintenance projects.
He noted that this shift to CDF funding marks a significant change in their approach to maintaining infrastructure like roads.
Eng Kasembe highlighted the advantages of CDF funding, stating that it will be a game-changer for the council as this gives the local authority the ability to undertake road construction and maintenance projects.
Eng Kasembe pointed out that CDF funding also offers increased financial resources on an annual basis, allowing the council to accomplish more in terms of enhancing road infrastructure and other developmental projects in the district.
"The phasing out of capital project funding has led us to embrace CDF funding, which will enable us to do much more for our community," he said.
He expressed appreciation for the government's support through the CDF, emphasizing the positive impact it will have on road development and maintenance of Isoka District.
Eng Kasembe stressed the council's commitment to working towards bettering the road network in the district.
