ECL WON’T LEAD UKA - MULUSA

- By NATION REPORTER

FORMER President Edgar Lungu will not be the one to lead the United Kwachan Alliance (UKA), Lucky Mulusa has said.

Mr Mulusa, the secretary general of the UKA said former President Lungu has indicated on several occasions that he does not intend to take on the leadership of UKA.

Mr Mulusa said UKA was different from the UPND Alliance that was focused on only one party and when they achieved their goal of winning the 2021 general elections, all the other alliance partners were rejected, refused and neglected.

He said in order to demonstrate that UKA would be registered as a political party and would contest the 2026 general election as a political party, the alliance shall chose a leader with whom all other alliance partners shall support and work with.

“The Constitution does not provide for alliances to contest for elections but allows political parties that is why we will register UKA as a political party,” Mr Mulusa said.

Mr Mulusa said UKA members did not want what happened to the UPND alliance to happen to them where after the elections, the alliance partners were forgotten and frustrated so that they could leave the UPND alone

He said the UPND failed to appoint any member of the alliance as District Commissioners and any other lower positions that was why the alliance would be making appointments from the party which was UKA.

Mr Mulusa said UPND had rejected all its alliance members except for those they had appointed, claiming that most of the UPND members themselves were now feeling frustrated and rejected.
