SHIKAPWASH­A’S WIFE COMMITTED TO HIGH COURT

LUSAKA Magistrate, Keegan Litiya has committed late Lieutenant General Ronald Shikapwash­a's wife Jane Lusengo to the High Court for a summary trial in a matter she is charged with murder.

When the matter came up yesterday at the Lusaka Magistrate Court, state prosecutor Patrick Mungula informed the court that the matter was coming up for explanatio­n of the charge and the consent letter to commit the matter to the High court was ready and before court.

"The accused is before court and the matter is coming up for explanatio­n of the charge and the consent is ready from the director of public prosecutio­n (DPP)," he said.

In this matter, Lusengo, aged 73 of Ibex Hill in Lusaka is charged with murder contrary to Section 200 the Penal Code, Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia.

Particular­s of the offence are that Lusengo on January 15, 2024 in Lusaka murdered Ronald Shikapwash­a.

It is alleged that the accused caused the death of her husband by shooting him with a double barrel shotgun.

It is also alleged that Lusengo shot at the husband on January 14, 2024 but he died the following day at Maina Soko Military hospital from gun wounds.

However, Mr Litiya upon receiving consent of committal, committed the matter to the High Court for trial pursuant to section 254 of the Criminal Procedure Code, Chapter 88 of the Laws of Zambia.

"The offence charged is triable

by the High Court and consent to commit the accused to the High Court for summary trial is ready, I commit you to the high court for summery trial," he said.

Lusengo is being represente­d by Mr. Friday Mulenga Jr.
