UPND SELLING WOLF TICKETS

- Dear Editor, JAY BOND, Lusaka.

ICAN safely claim that currently, the ruling UPND is merely glossing in bluffs, empty promises and misguided threats against those challenging its authority.

I see those in UPND as a group of individuals who merely want to be powerful and influential in both politics and business.

And precisely, that is how they have managed to run our country aground and without shame are now busy selling wolf tickets.

The ruling party has done almost three years in government but there is absolutely nothing to show for it in both politics and the now cholera-infested economy.

It is plain to see that UPND had no governance plan and indeed any other ideas of running government.

It lacks organisation such that any Cabinet Minister can wake up and take to the media and say whatever they like to be seen to be working. During its campaign period, UPND came with blazing guns promising to reduce overall poverty, improve productivity and stimulate economic growth – alas, all this has safely drowned in the Atlantic Ocean.

UPND to the contrary has only managed to take advantage of expectant Zambians who had hoped it would offer them a better life. Today, Zambia is full of citizens who are heartsick and disilusioned because the great expectations from the so-called new dawn administration have all but evaporated into thin air.

For me, UPND seriously has failed to function properly save for the former ruling party PF which has become its scapegoat.

I remember its Information and Media Minister Cornelius Mweetwa vowing that his party UPND will not stop blaming PF for its failure to deliver to Zambians. What a big shame! So far so bad. The situation will get worse and only the tough will get going. What with this costly mealie-meal, electricity, fuel, high inflation and weak Kwacha, Zambia will end up embracing the dogeat-dog life. I agree with the idiom “cheaters never prosper” as they do not talk openly and honestly. This is how Zambians have now found themselves empty and lonely as their government continues to move away from them in terms of failed campaign promises of 2021.
