NOW, PARLEY GOES FOR CHISENGA

-

Ms Sikatele Mambwe in her letter dated 21 March, 2023 addressed to Ms Chisenga said she had received a complaint against the Mambilima lawmaker from Emmanuel Banda, the Muchinga MP to the effect that Ms Chisenga had confronted President Hichilema, telling him that mwachilamo ubufi (you are such a liar).

“In this regard, the purpose of this letter is to avail you an opportunity to state your side of the story. It would be appreciated, madam, if your response could reach the office of the Clerk (of the National Assembly) as soon as possible, but not later than Monday, 25 2024,” Ms Sikatele Mambwe said in her letter.

The scheme to harass and hound Ms Chisenga out of Parliament has however angered Laura Miti, the Human Rights Commission (HRC) member who has strongly condemned the pliot, stating that Parliament had more serious issues and business than engaging in witch-hunting.

Ms Miti said attempts to punish and silence Ms Chisenga was an attempt by the Parliamentary administration to raise issues that had no impact on the lives of the people and the nation

“OK ku Parliament kuli kantu! This level of please-the-boss is not good for any President or leader. Surely, Parliamentary administration has more serious issues to direct its energies to, than a catcall by an MP known to be less than mature. They should leave the public to reach its own conclusions on how MPs behave,” Ms Muti said

Meanwhile, UKA has resolved that should Speaker of the National Assembly Nelly Muti proceed to harass and punish Ms Chisenga by suspending her from the House, the alliance including Members of Parliament whose parties were alliance members shall contribute money for the Mambilima MP for any action she would desire to take.

Saboi Imboela, the media chairperson of UKA said in an interview that that alliance was condemning in the strongest terms schemes by the UPND to hound Ms Chisenga out of Parliament for telling President Hichilema the truth.

Ms Imboela said UKA had resolved to protect all the MPs whose political parties were affiliated to the alliance because, according to her, the UPND had planned.
