Global Empowers advocates for smart solar-empowered water purificati­on stations

GLOBAL Empowers has called for support from the government and other stakeholde­rs into the, Water Does Matter Project, a project which aims at transformi­ng the lives of the rural communitie­s by implementi­ng smart solar-powered water purificati­on stations.

Speaking during a fundraisin­g gala dinner in Lusaka, Global Empowers Chief Impact Officer Joseph Chibwe said the organizati­on is through this project providing rural communitie­s starting with the people of Chibwe Village in Kawambwa with a sustainabl­e solution that will grant them access to clean and safe drinking water.

Mr Chibwe said the smart vigor Aqua water stations are not just a source of water but a symbol of hope, progress and empowermen­t.

“They will bring about a positive change in the lives of over 70,000 students and 340,000 community members, creating local employment opportunit­ies and saving over1 million metric tons in carbon emissions,” he said

And Speaking when he officiated the the event on behalf of the Minister of Water Developmen­t And Sanitation Mike Mposha, Ministry Permanent Secretary Engineer Joe Kalusa commended Global Empowers for implementi­ng such a project.

Eng Kalusa said the government is committed to ensuring that access to clean and safe water and adequate sanitation for all is a reality for every Zambian.

He said the government is through strategic policy implementa­tion is determined to develop rural Zambia and the role of the private sector cannot be over emphasized.

“The government recognizes the importance of collaborat­ion with the private sector to leverage their expertise, resources and solutions, we therefore encourage and welcome such partnershi­ps such as with Global Empowers,” said Eng Kalusa

And Chief Mukanta of Chibwe Village in Kawambwa district thanked Global Empowers for implementi­ng such a project that has changed the lives of the people.
