WE ARE TROUBLED!
as a nation are deeply troubled by recent events that have brought into question the integrity of our leadership and legislative processes.
It has come to our attention that during the handover of the Mopani Copper Mines, Binwell Mpundu, the Independent MP of Nkana Constituency in Kitwe addressed the gathering despite the absence of parliamentary approval for the transfer, as stipulated by our Constitution.
The act by the UPND government to over-look the Parliamentary approval and our Constitution is a sign that indeed illegal moves won’t stop now because this has been going on for a long time with no fear of the laws that govern us.
This blatant disregard for legal procedures reflects poorly on the new dawn administration and also undermines the very foundation of our democratic principles.
Such actions perpetuate a culture of opportunism and impunity, obstructing our nation’s progress towards meaningful economic and social transformation.
As we contemplate the potential for new leadership to emerge in 2026, it is imperative that we, as a nation, unite to chart a course towards sustainable development.
We must leave behind the erratic and haphazard governance typified by “chipante pante” leadership and instead embrace a coherent and visionary approach that prioritises the long-term interests of our nation.
To this end, we call for a renewed commitment to transparency, accountability, and respect for the rule of law. Only through principled leadership at every level can we hope to overcome the challenges that lie ahead and build a brighter future for generations to come.
We urge all stakeholders to join us in this endeavour as we strive to uphold the values that define us as a nation.
