UKA SHOULD WAKE UP

- JAY BOND, Lusaka.

Dear Editor, AFTER all has been said and done, I think time is now for all UKA members to start shining. The focus-catching 2026 general elections are near and the alliance should start now planning if it has to achieve its objectives.

Certainly, time is now for its leadership to begin developing and refining their ideas they intend to sell to voters. They should be seen to be pushing their core political beliefs if they have any dreams of forming government in 2026.

Let them evolve and be intelligent, truthful by developing methodical ways of their campaign programme. I think it is only by refining their programme of action that they can realise that their idea of coming up with UKA was not a mistake.

No doubt 2026 will be a year full of surprises during which the weak will fall by the wayside to leave the strong ones’ going.

In one of the novels by the famous British author James Hadley Chase he warns against underestimating the power of your opponents no matter how weak they may appear because if you do, you will end up in a one-way trip to a local cemetery.

So, I think they should enter this election battle fully prepared and with determination. They should also develop a trait of sharing optimism among themselves and check the political future with a winning mind. UKA members should also know that it is of less use promising voters heaven on earth by simply being honesty and truthful.

It is important for UKA to learn and be able to communicate its political beliefs to the public if it is to be taken seriously by the voters

Remember what Carlos Dominguez once said that people do not defend what is right anymore but defend who they like.
