Saki unveils new ULP leadership

- By Nation Reporter

SAKWIBA Sikota SC yesterday unveiled a team of his new leadership with the aim of strengthening the United Liberal Party (ULP), which he founded in 2006 and consequently won three seats in the National Assembly at the time.

Mr Sikota, who is president of ULP said the changes had been necessitated by the elevation of Mr Inambao Inambao, the party secretary general to that of chairman of the party.

“We have decided to do a minor reshuffle and have upgraded our secretary general Mr Inambao Inambao to being the chairman of the party and this is how the vacancy of secretary general was created,” he said.

Vice president Mr Chisala Kasakula said the new secretary

general Ms Shula Mulenga had brought a wealth of experience to the party.

“We promise people out there that ULP is not a ka ntemba (small shop). Those with good ideas are welcome to join our party,” Mr Kasakula said

He said it was sad that President Hakainde Hichilema had not fulfilled his promises and so the opposition should unite and work together to meet people’s aspirations.

“We will make sure that Zambians don’t go through what they are currently passing through. The UPND over promised but they are now busy impressing their foreign friends at the expense of Zambians,” Mr Kasakula said.

Mr Kasakula said ULP’s approach to politics was different and devoid of insults and the party would only contest on ideologies.

“There is no substitute to truth and there is no substitute to lies. A lie is a lie. So when citizens remind someone who promised them that they would buy a bag of mealie-meal at K50 per 25 kg, it is not an insult,” he said.
