SAKI CHARACTERISES UPND AS SCHIZOPHRENIC

- By NATION REPORTER

STATE Counsel Sakwiba Sikota has characterised the UPND as a schizophrenic government that is so obsessed with telling lies that each time they have told Zambians untruths, they would get fever.

Reacting to Jack Mwiimbu, the Minister of Home Affairs and Internal Security that State Police had permitted Citizens First president Harry Kalaba to hold a rally in Nchelenge when in fact the opposition leader had his notification rejected, Mr Sikota said in the last two days, the UPND government had frequently been telling lies on important national matters without shame.

Mr Sikota, the leader of the United Liberal Party (ULP) and chairman of the United Kwacha Alliance (UKA) said the UPND were serial liars to the extent that they would get fever if they did not tell a lie to citizens.

“After the police issued and withdrew a call out against Father Chewe Mukosa, the Lufwanyama Catholic priest for reminding the UPND government about its lies and the economic hardships Zambians are going through, one Thabo Kawana, the Information and Media Permanent Secretary told Zambians that in fact there was no call out to anyone and that it was fictitious. Then we had Cornelius Mweetwa issuing a statement contradicting Mr Kawana that it was not government’s intention to summon Fr Mukosa," Mr Sikota said.

“And as evidence of a government suffering from schizophrenia, today (yesterday), Jack Mwiimbu at a press conference boldly told Zambians and the world that the Citizens First had been granted permission to hold a rally in Nchelenge because according to him, the democratic space in Zambia was not witling down. While Mr Mwiimbu was telling the world that Mr Kalaba had been allowed to hold his rally, the police in Nchelenge were writing a letter to the effect that Mr Kalaba could not hold a rally,” Mr Sikota said.

He said it was evident that the UPND government was suffering from schizophrenia because lies the leadership was telling Zambians on a daily basis had become too many and too frequent.

“It is a classic case of schizophrenia where Government leaders could be so obsessed with telling uncoordinated lies. The lies of the UPND are becoming too many and too frequent. They are definitely serial liars and lying is in their DNA. Zambia’s first President was as correct during his rule as he is in his death when he said some people are fallible, they tell lies in the morning, during lunch and when they go to sleep. They are so obsessed with telling lies that each time they have not told a lie, they catch a fever,” Mr Sikota said.

And Mr Kalaba said it was a lie that his party had been granted permission to hold a rally in Nchelenga.

“Home Affairs Minister Jack Mwiimbu is telling lies by claiming that Citizens First has been given a permit to hold a public rally in Nchelenge. The police blatantly refused a request by Citizens First to hold a public rally tomorrow. Those are total lies," Mr. Kalaba said.
