Third force has not disintegrated, says Muhabi

- By NATION REPORTER

MUHABI Lungu says it was not true that the third force was about to disintegrate even before it has been launched.

The third force is a grouping of eminent Zambians who are about to either become a political party or movement to offer checks and balances to Government.

Mr Lungu, who is part of the third force said in an interview that in the past eight months, the group had been congregating, some of the meetings had been very robust and candid.

“The level of engagement has been quite intense and rightly so because we have brought together a group of people from different parties and they hold different opinions,” he said.

“We agreed to be as honest as candid and as brutally truthful with each other. And everyone agreed that we are going to be very brutal in being truthful and that no one would walk away if their idea was shot down,” he said.

Mr Lungu said it was normal for the third force to hold robust, candid and heated debates.

He said since the group had now grown, it had opened itself up for infiltration.

“Some people who have recently joined may have been unethical and have begun sharing the contents of our meeting. But we always reach a consensus,” Mr Lungu said.

He explained that the said meeting in which it was believed that some members differed, a consensus and an agreement was reached.

He said the objective at present was to agree on the values, concepts, principles and what exactly they want to achieve.

Mr Lungu said no one had been approached to be a leader as the issue of leadership will be dealt with at a later stage.
