MY FATHER ASSISTED ME BUY SINDA FARM, TASILA TELLS COURT
TASILA Lungu has told the court that her father, former Republican President, Edgar Chagwa Lungu, financially assisted her to buy the Sinda Farm which the State desperately wants forfeited.
Ms Lungu contended that the said property was legitimately obtained for value and as far as she was aware, her father who assisted in the purchase of the property is not alleged to have been involved in any criminal offence.
She stated that the State should admit that the reason for the investigations carried out against her was because of being the ex-president’s daughter, thus, were deliberate, intentional and malicious following the change of government after the August 2021, presidential elections.
Ms Lungu also accused the State of purposely inflating the value of the farm, arguing that the property was not worth K13 million as alleged by the Drug Enforcement Commission senior investigations officer, Emmanuel Khondwe.
“I believe that in relation to the property in issue, which I was assisted by my family particularly my father Dr Lungu to
purchase and towards which purchase I also contributed as I could from my available financial means, I wish to strongly dispute the deponent’s allegations that it is from proceeds of crime, or proceeds of serious offence or a foreign serious offence,”
“That I am aware and verily believe that my father, the former Republican president Dr. Lungu has not been involved or alleged to have been involved in any alleged serious offence or foreign serious offence,” she contended.
This is according to an affidavit in opposition to the originating notice of motion filed in the Economic and Financial Crimes Court.
