Dilemma of Africa’s intellectual neo-colonialism

-

Dear Editor, FROM names, education, religion, lifestyles, languages etc, Africa is still dependent on its former colonial masters.

If an African does not go to school brought by Europeans, he or she is an automatic disgrace to the communities they live in.

They are regarded illiterate, uncivilised and no good to be associated with and the drama goes on.

But is it really true that only the white man’s religion, education, languages, and lifestyles are what can be described as civilisation for all mankind. I don’t think so because in nearly all African villages not to talk about the greatest war planner Shaka Zulu, are men and women of immense wisdom.

And because of this inferiority complex Africans have shamefully abandoned their way of life in preference to the white one which has exposed them to vices like same-sex marriage, bestiality, incest and many other unnatural and degrading practices.

Yet the colonial masters have to date not bothered to learn some of the African languages while Africans brag about speaking good English, French, Portuguese, Latin, Spanish, Chinese, Afrikaans and many others without an iota of shame.

The African shame does not end there as we have often our men and women lightening their skins to get closer to white people. Our women these days prefer white lookalike hair, nails, lipstick and the list goes on and on.

So, is there any true independence that Africa can boast of when countries like Nigeria has switched to European names. As for now nobody knows when Africa will be truly independent in all areas of human endeavour.

BILLIARD MBOMBOZA, Petauke.
