Mapatizya MP spells out a three-year CDF plan
Mapatizya member of Parliament Emelda Munashabantu says the increased allocation of Constituency Development Fund-CDFfrom K28.3 million last year to K30.6 million this year will enable government respond to water challenges that the people in her constituency are facing.
Ms Munashabantu who is in the Constituency holding sensitization and consultative meetings with stakeholders, says working with traditional leadership, has set out a target to embark on a three-year project of drilling boreholes in every village at places that will be identified by senior headmen in the next three years.
Ms Munashabantu says the project which will include repairing of the already existing none functioning borehores, will help improve access to clean water in Mapatizya, because it is a thorn issue that will now be resolved with the availability of CDF resources.
“If you check the applications that the CDF Committee has been receiving from the wards, you will know that water problems are all over the constituency demanding for an immediate solution, we have to come up with a delibarate approach so that we drill borehores for a few headmen every year,up to 2026,” she said.
And Zimba Council Chairperson Loveness Chigora says the ward development committees have a huge responsibility to ensure that they present the correct picture of water problems in their communities.
“WDC members remain very cardinal in the implementation of the decentralisation policy,it is because they live with the people in zones and wards, let them not be deceitful to both government and the people they are serving, that’s the desire of the new dawn government,” Says Ms.Chigora.
