THE GULLIBILITY OF ZAMBIAN CHRISTIANS

- Dear Editor, MOFFAT MULEMENA, Solwezi.

IF you have come across a Pastor, Prophet or Bishop enticing you to buy their anointing oil or holy water, run to the hills.

Such men or women of God are not only phony but biggest misleaders ever known on planet Earth.

This is because salvation or healing is absolutely FREE. When Jesus Christ walked to heal the sick including raising the dead back to life, it was all gratis.

Frankly speaking, the majority of our churches today have become inarguably choppy and experts at extorting money from their uncritical converts. For me, this is pure deceit and God has already judged this crop of preachers whose main reason of being on the pulpit is to syphon money from their unsuspecting followers.

However, the upheaval of them all is the ugly fact that Zambian believers are extremely gullible while seeking spiritual solutions to whatever challenges they may have.

So, these famed “Papas” are true masters of deceit and always leaving their victims behind shouting “I receive!” for years without any changes to their lives. There is a Pentecostal Church near where I live in Lusaka whose female pastor is presently selling holy water in small bottles at K100 each.

And boy, she is making an easy killing as her gullible followers cannot challenge this rationale of conducting prayers tied to money.

Mark Twain once said: “Everyone is a moon and has a dark side which he never shows to anybody.”

Reminds me of a Nigerian pastor who too submitted that if anyone wanted to make a quick buck, they should travel to Zambia where people are the most gullible in Africa as they easily swallow the hook of prosperity through prayers. This, I hear is the more reason Africa today boasts of being a land of the richest preachers as opposed to their Western counterparts.

My earnest plea to Zambian Christians is for them to wake up today and know the difference between goats and sheep and become wary of wolves in sheep’s skin which kill using the Holy Bible.

It is also possible we could be in the biblical end times when many false prophets will take centre-stage in our communities.

Indeed, my other profound prayer goes to both government and church mother bodies not to just watch this scenario with closed eyes and folded arms but should quickly swing into action to rid the church of these miscreants.
