OWNERS OF RECOVERED PLOTS IN KALULUSHI REVERT TO DEVELOPING THE LAND WITH COUNCIL APPROVAL
THE Kalulushii Municipal Council (KMC) has received information that some people, who are among the 200 whose plots were recently repossessed for failure to develop them, have moved back on site and are now developing them.
In July 2023, KMC repossessed 200 plots that had been undeveloped by those who had acquired them.
Last week, the council began issuing application forms to those willing to acquire the pieces of land.
However, Council Town Clerk, Betty Liswaniso, said it had come to their attention that the people whose plots were repossessed had since moved back on site and started developing them.
Ms Liswaniso had since warned those that had moved in to develop the plots that all the activities being carried out on the repossessed pieces of land were illegal and those who had started building must stop
"The council has received information that people whose plots were repossessed for failure to develop them have moved on site to start developing the plots.
"We have learnt about this development with dismay and warn those involved that their actions are illegal and must stop. This move is illegal and as a local authority we will not allow this to take centre stage," Ms Liswaniso said.
She said it was imperative that people follow the laid down procedure and period to develop the plots once given so that they did not cry foul to the local authority when time comes for it to act.
"Those residents therefore risk having anything being developed on the pieces of land demolished. Those involved should stop any developments or they continue to do it at their own peril" she said
Ms Liswaniso said the pieces of land were already repossessed and the local authority had commenced the process to offer them to those willing.
